Abdul Kalam great thoughts

Kalam had tweeted earlier in the day.

‘Going to Shillong.. to take course on Livable Planet earth at iim. With @srijanpalsingh and Sharma,’

The 84-year-old Kalam arguably the most popular head of state between 2002 and 2007, died on Monday after he collapsed during a lecture in Shillong Indian Institute of Management at around 6.30 pm. He was rushed to Bethany Hospital in Nongrim hills, Meghalaya. Doctors said he had suffered from a massive cardiac arrest.

Known as the Missile Man of India, Dr Kalam had played a pivotal role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. One of the most loved Presidents, he was also known as the People's President.

For his achievements, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna, and then he became the 11th President of India in 2002.

Dr Kalam was born in Rameswaram on October 15, 1931, to a poor family. His father was a boatman. A bright student, his interest in flying led to a degree in Aeronautical engineering, and eventually to supervising the development of India's guided missile programme. He went abroad to study only once, in 1963-'64, to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States.

What made this man so special? Well, understanding and leading the youths of India. All his life he has always been the guiding star of the millions of young achievers and dreamers across India. Students were just his heart. He loved to interact with them, guide them to achieve more out of life.

He used to receive 300 e-mails every day. Some of these letters have been turned into his latest book Forge Your Future, which provides an insight into the issues which concern and engage the minds of young Indians today. President Kalam's replies are based on his personal experiences, his reading and his interactions with political and spiritual leaders.
One more amazing thing of the book was that, the title of the book was selected after an online public vote.

The government of India will declare a seven-day national mourning, reported Press Trust of India, quoting Union Home Secretary LC Goel.

We pray that his soul rest in peace and may we hope that the ignition that he has set inside the hearts of millions of Indian Youths never die down and settle.
